Electronic prescriptions system launched in pilot districts of Kyrgyzstan

A system of electronic prescriptions is being introduced at primary health care organizations and pharmacies in three districts of Issyk-Kul region. The press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The system is being tested in Ton, Tyup and Dzheti-Oguz districts. It is the first joint project of the Ministry of Health and the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund.

The new automated system for issue of preferential prescriptions for medicines and their implementation in electronic format replaces handwritten prescriptions and a monthly collection of used prescriptions for conducting mutual settlements with pharmacies. According to the Minister of Health Kosmosbek Cholponbaev, introduction of the new system will improve the quality and availability of medicines, freeing doctors from a huge amount of paperwork.

The ministry adds that an electronic prescription is issued for 58 drugs reimbursed under the Supplemental Medical Insurance Fund program of the CMIF and the State Guarantee Program at the outpatient level.
