Open Skies policy. Prices for air tickets not to fall in Kyrgyzstan

One should not expect price reductions after the entry into force of amendments to the Air Code of Kyrgyzstan. The deputy of the Parliament Almazbek Ergeshov said at a round table discussion.

According to him, the cost of flights is unlikely to change, despite assurances from the initiators of the amendments. «Airports, passengers, who will be able to fly directly to different countries, will get their benefits,» the deputy said.

He added that a ticket to Moscow costed $ 140. Speaking about domestic flights, Almazbek Ergeshov noted that deputies repeatedly raised the issue of price increases by airlines in the winter season, when the passes are closed. «But they agreed with the companies that they would not increase the price to over 4,000 soms. I recently bought a ticket for my son for 1,800 soms. Can it be even cheaper?» he explained.

An expert, pilot Mamat Nazarov said that companies lived and worked in a market economy. «Given that all intents are good, there should be no cost agreement. What is the price? Aircraft is very expensive, including kerosene, maintenance. This is not a minibus or a car. You have to understand this,» he replied.

On January 15, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov signed the law on Amendments to the Air Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, which reaffirmed the country’s commitment to the Open Skies policy.

According to the authors of the bill, it will increase passenger traffic to 35 percent and reduce prices for air tickets by 20-40 percent.
