Kyrgyzstan lacks psychologists to assist young families in raising children

There are no psychologists in Kyrgyzstan, who would assist young families in raising children. It was stated at a round table discussion today.

According to the head of Sezim crisis center, Byubyusara Ryskulova, young mothers and fathers often abandon a child not only because they do not have money to raise him or her — they do not know what to do with them. They need psychological help.

Married couples, who decided to adopt a child, also need psychological support. As it was previously reported, there are 200 children in Kyrgyzstan waiting for a new family, but the Ministry of Social Development cannot provide statistics on married couples who returned adopted children.

Since the beginning of the year, six children of migrant workers born outside Kyrgyzstan have been returned. They were placed in orphanages.
