Kyrgyzstan bans mining farms and data centers

The National Energy Holding has banned the issue of technical specifications for the connection of mining farms, data centers and electric heating. The document was published on Facebook.

In addition, Electric Stations JSC and National Electric Network of the Kyrgyz Republic will not agree on the increase in capacity and consumption volumes for large industrial consumers and wholesale resellers until the end of the autumn-winter period.

The Energy Holding told 24.kg news agency that the volume of power and electricity for domestic consumers was set according to the limits, approved by the government resolution. Large industrial consumers are supplied with electricity in accordance with the established procedure.

The issue of technical specifications for connection of mining farms and data centers was submitted for consideration to the State Committee of Energy, Industry and Subsoil Use of the Kyrgyz Republic. The requested power capacity of mining farms is high and is about 300 MW, this is consumption of one city.

«The energy system has a morning and evening electricity consumption maximum, summer and winter period. The schedules for power supply are approved taking into account these periods. Connection of additional large consumers should be designed and agreed in the prescribed manner. First of all, we need to ensure uninterrupted and reliable electricity supply of the economic sector and the population of the republic, and to have additional reserves in the autumn-winter period that we do not have. They will appear after the reconstruction of Toktogul HPP,» the power engineers explained.
