Kyrgyz film Father’s Will wins 3 prizes at International Film Festival

The Kyrgyz film Father’s Will won three prizes of the International Film Festival. The Union of Cinematographers of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

According to it, the movie got the Grand Prix at the Durban International Film Festival in Best Film nomination. The prize for the best direction was awarded to the directors of the picture Bakyt Mukul and Dastan Zhapar uulu, for the best camera work — to the production director Akzhol Bekbolotov.

This is the largest festival in South Africa, featuring more than 250 films from around the world and focusing primarily on works from Africa.

Father’s Will movie tells about a young man Azat, who brings to Kyrgyzstan the body and testament of his father. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, his father was in high debt, and he was forced to leave the country. Living in the US, he always wanted to be buried in his native land. The son paid off his father’s debts. Having arrived in Kyrgyzstan, Azat opens the homeland for himself.
