Almazbek Atambayev and Xi Jinping discuss economy of Silk Road

Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed the economy of the Silk Road. The meeting of the two leaders took place today.

It was noted that the heads of state met in the framework of Almazbek Atambayev’s official visit to Beijing. During the meeting, the President of Kyrgyzstan expressed his gratitude to the Chinese side for the invitation to the forum on international cooperation One Belt, One Road. He noted that China is a good neighbor of Kyrgyzstan, an important and reliable development partner.

Grant, financial and technical assistance to China, provided to Kyrgyzstan over the years, has provided significant help and assistance in the social and economic development of the country.

Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the importance of Kyrgyzstan's participation in the practical implementation of the initiative to create the Economic Belt of the Silk Road. He noted that China will continue to help and assist in strengthening the economy of Kyrgyzstan by implementing specific projects based on the needs of the Kyrgyz side.

The President of China emphasized that the two countries support each other in key issues and are actively promoting a strategic partnership in the interests of the peoples of the two countries.

«During the talks, the leaders discussed in detail the issues related to the establishment of the Kyrgyz-Chinese Fund, the construction of the China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway. In addition, they touched upon the issues of deepening cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere and holding joint scientific and practical events," the Information Policy Department of the President’s Office of Kyrgyzstan commented the results of the meeting.
