Kyrgyzstan switches off analog television

Analog television was switched off today, May 15, in Kyrgyzstan.

Citizens were daily called for the purchase of receivers in both branches of Kyrgyztelecom and from private providers.

250 million soms had been spent annually on analog television. Since 2012, Kyrgyzstan has started to switch to digital TV.

The social package of TV channels of digital terrestrial broadcasting includes information, as well as music and entertainment, children’s, scientific, educational and sports content.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Culture Tugolbay Kazakov noted that analog TV would not be switched off in 326 villages of Kyrgyzstan with a population of 315,000 people until the installation of repeaters.
