Lawsuits filed against GKNB head, presidential press office chief

Deputies of Ata Meken parliamentary faction Omurbek Tekebayev, Almambet Shykmamatov and Aida Salyanova filed a joint suit to the Pervomaiskiy district court of Bishkek against the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) Abdil Segizbayev and the head of the Information Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Almaz Usenov.

«The suit was filed to protect the honor, dignity and business reputation of three deputies on issue of dissemination of inaccurate information, voiced by the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security about the alleged involvement of the people’s deputies in offshore accounts in Belize. Since the information was disseminated in the media by the Presidential Administration, Ata Meken faction deputies also sued Almaz Usenov," press service of Ata Meken said.

Almambet Shykmatatov and Aida Salyanova do not intend to recover compensation for moral damage from the defendants. But Omurbek Tekebayev estimated the amount of moral damage at 60 million soms.

«If the court satisfies Tekebayev’s claim, he intends to send this money to help Azattyk radio, Zanoza website, independent journalist Naryn Aiyp and the lawyers of Ata Meken party against whom the Prosecutor General’s Office filed suit in defense of the honor and dignity of the President Almazbek Atambayev," statement said.

In addition, lawyers ask to seize the movable and immovable property of Abdil Segizbayev and Almaz Usenov.
