Government of Kyrgyzstan glad to see reduction in imports from EEU

The government of Kyrgyzstan considers decrease in the volumes of imports from EEU as a good indicator. Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Pankratov said today at a press conference.

According to him, in spite of the difficult economic conditions, Kyrgyzstan has managed to retain a positive trend.

A growth in GDP per capita was observed in the last three years. In 2014, the figure was $71,801, in 2015 — $ 75, 490. In 2016, it had risen to $ 78, 702.

The government commented on the situation with the foreign trade turnover of the country. During the first 11 months of 2016, it amounted to $ 4, 879 billion and decreased by 0.5 percent.

Trade with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union fell by 17.6 percent. At the same time, exports fell by 8.1 percent, imports — by 18.5 percent.

«Yes, there was two times decrease in imports compared to exports. But this is a good trend. It has a positive effect on the trade balance. The difference is for the benefit of the economy of Kyrgyzstan," Oleg Pankratov said.
