The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported the arrest of a suspected member of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami, a religious extremist organization banned in Kyrgyzstan.
According to the security service, on June 17, investigative and operational measures were carried out as part of a criminal case aimed at suppressing the activities of the organization’s supporters.
During a search of the suspect’s residence, SCNS officers discovered and seized religious literature with extremist content and mobile phones, which they deemed material evidence.
As a result of the operation, a woman D.M.Sh. was detained.
The SCNS noted that participation in the activities of extremist and terrorist organizations banned in Kyrgyzstan entails criminal liability.
