The 12th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission was held in Cholpon-Ata. Following the meeting, the parties confirmed plans to increase mutual trade turnover to $2 billion by 2030 and signed a new package of cooperation agreements. The Cabinet of Ministers’ press service reported.
According to Adylbek Kasymaliev, at year-end 2025, trade turnover between the two countries exceeded $1 billion, an increase of 19 percent compared to the previous year. Over the past five years, mutual trade has doubled.
The parties discussed expanding cooperation in industry, agriculture, energy, logistics, and investment. Kyrgyzstan proposed intensifying the work of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Development Fund, increasing its capital, and accelerating the launch of joint industrial parks and logistics centers.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the region’s largest infrastructure projects. This included the construction of China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway, which the parties call the New Silk Road of the 21st century, as well as joint work on Kambarata-1 Hydropower Station (HPP) project.
Following the meeting, the protocol of the 12th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was signed.
