MFA of Kyrgyzstan opens 24-hour headquarters amid Middle East situation

Due to the escalating situation in the Middle East, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has established a special headquarters operating around the clock, the ministry’s press service reported.

The Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an emergency meeting, establishing direct communication with staff at Kyrgyz Embassies and Consulates in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Turkey, and received updates on the situation on the ground. It was noted that no citizens of Kyrgyzstan have been harmed, and there is no panic or widespread concern.

«A headquarters has been established at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs operating 24 hours a day. In Saudi Arabia, the situation is calm, airports remain open, and regular flights are being operated, though some are delayed. In Qatar, the situation is stable, and consuls are maintaining contact with citizens as much as possible,» Seitek Zhumakadyr uulu, Director of the Consular Department, said.

He added that consuls are assisting Kyrgyzstanis who have been asked to leave hotels due to expired stays. While responses to inquiries may be delayed due to the high number of requests, the ministry is actively responding.

WhatsApp groups have also been created to provide timely updates.

The attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran began on February 28 with numerous air and missile strikes targeting cities and military facilities. In retaliation, Tehran struck Israel and U.S. military bases in several Middle Eastern countries. Following the initial strikes, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the start of the military operation.

Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, has been killed, along with several other senior officials in Tehran.

The escalation in the Middle East continues, with ongoing missile strikes from both sides. Tens of thousands of people remain stranded due to closed airspace in the conflict zone.
