The police have revealed another case of vote buying, the press service of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek reported.
The investigators established that a citizen I.N. transferred 55,500 soms to 113 voters so that they would vote for the candidate for deputy to the Bishkek City Council from Adilet party. In addition, she bought votes by transferring 1,000-2,000 soms to voters’ mobile wallets.
All these facts were confirmed by documents seized during a search of the suspect’s home and the headquarters of the political party. I.N. was charged with committing a crime under the article «Vote Buying» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek added that the investigation into the fact is ongoing, based on the results of which a legal assessment will be given to the actions of all involved persons.
Searches were conducted at the headquarters of Social Democrats political party on November 13, and its leader Temirlan Sultanbekov was taken in for questioning. Kadyrbek Atambayev was also there.
Irina Karamushkina posted on Facebook that an investigative team had arrived to her. Later, she was also taken in for questioning. Today, November 14, the press service of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the capital reported that Irina Karamushkina and the official representative of the party were detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
The Main Department of Internal Affairs of Bishkek reported that a criminal case had been opened under the article «Vote buying» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic after an audio recording of a conversation allegedly between the head of the headquarters of the Social Democrats party Irina Karamushkina and a candidate Daniyar Cholponbaev was posted on social media, where they allegedly discussed vote buying in the upcoming elections of deputies of local councils, which will be held on November 17, 2024.
