Five banks in Kyrgyzstan are in process of liquidation —National Bank

Five banks in Kyrgyzstan are in the process of liquidation. The report of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic says.

According to the bank, the list of banks subject to liquidation includes AsiaUniversalBank OJSC, Issyk-Kul Investbank OJSC, Manas Bank CJSC, Ak Bank OJSC and the Bishkek branch of the National Bank of Pakistan.

Recall, AsiaUniversalBank and Manas Bank are affiliated with Maxim Bakiyev, the son of the country’s ousted president Kurmanbek Bakiyev.

In 1999, Russian businessman Mikhail Nadel bought the Kyrgyz subsidiary of the Western Samoa bank, known as International Business Bank, and renamed it into AUB in 2000.

Manas Bank was founded in 2008 by a Latvian banker Valery Belokon, who in 2007 acquired the then insolvent Kyrgyz commercial bank Insan Bank and renamed it.

In addition, the Bishkek branch of the Central Asian Bank for Cooperation and Development, which was created in 1994 by Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, remains without a license.
