A meeting took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, and the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, as part of his short stop from Astana to Islamabad.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the main directions and priorities for strengthening Kyrgyz-Pakistani relations, especially noting the importance of further strengthening the political dialogue between the two fraternal countries, increasing the dynamics of mutual visits at the highest and high level, as well as expanding and strengthening mutual trade and economic cooperation. In this context, the parties discussed issues related to the areas of trade, investment, transport communications, textile industry, tourism, education, healthcare, etc.
Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev noted the importance of intensifying trade and economic relations between the two countries and developing cooperation in the energy sector. In this context the priority of interaction between the two countries was emphasized on the speedy launch of the subregional energy project CASA-1000, which will allow diversification of mutual trade.
During the discussion of the international agenda, issues of developing new transit routes to strengthen regional connectivity and economies between the countries of Central and South Asia were raised.
In particular, work continues to expand the capabilities of the Pakistan-China-Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan regional transport corridor, through which mutual trade is already carried out.
To promote these issues, the parties agreed to hold regular political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the near future.
Regarding the stay of Pakistani students in the Kyrgyz Republic, Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev assured that the law enforcement agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic have taken all necessary measures to ensure their safety.
«Voluntary public organizations at universities of the Kyrgyz Republic conduct a number of events to strengthen friendly relations between the youth of the two countries,» he said.
The minister emphasized that regarding the incident on May 13, 2024, a thorough investigation is underway, following which those responsible for the incident on May 13, 2024, will be strictly punished according to the law.
In his turn, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Mohammad Ishaq Dar thanked for the promptly taken measures by the Kyrgyz side to resolve the situation and constructive interaction on all issues on the agenda.
