Kyrgyzstan may switch to the English legal system. The President Sadyr Japarov announced this at the second People’s Kurultai.
According to Sadyr Japarov, such a system could create fair courts in the Kyrgyz Republic, which in turn will attract investment to the republic.
«We are considering the possibility of introducing English law. This is necessary if we want to enter the international investment market,» he explained.
The head of state believes that a mechanism is needed to attract investments through the stock market to finance national projects, hydroelectric power plants and industrial facilities.
Sadyr Japarov also said at the forum that due to corruption, Kyrgyzstan has not developed for almost 30 years. According to him, no investor will invest money in a country with criminal elements.
The English legal system (Common Law) operates in the states of the British Commonwealth (including Canada and Australia), the USA, New Zealand and Northern Ireland. This is a legal system historically developed in medieval England, characterized by the fact that judicial precedent is recognized as the source of law. In a narrower sense, it, as a body of judicial precedent, is opposed to statutory law.
