Kanybek Imanaliev officially appointed Minister of Education and Science

Kanybek Imanaliev has been officially appointed the Minister of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan. Press service of the head of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The decree was signed by the President Sadyr Japarov.

The candidacy of Kanybek Imanaliev was discussed by MPs last week. At least 77 deputies voted for him.

Kanybek Imanaliev replaced Ulanbek Mambetakunov. He served as the Minister of Education and Science since February 24.

Kanybek Imanaliev headed the press service of the President Askar Akayev from 1996 to 1999. From 2000 to 2005, he was a deputy of the second, third, fifth and sixth convocations. From 2008 to 2010 Kanybek Imanaliev was a Deputy Rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University for International Relations. In January 2021, he ran for presidency. He is a former journalist, author of many books published in different languages.
