The head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Askarbek Dzhanybekov, assured that there would be no problems with food in Kyrgyzstan. He announced this at a press conference in Bishkek.
«I can assure you with confidence that there will be no problems with the main products on the Kyrgyz market. As for affordability, it depends more on the situation in neighboring markets,» the minister said.
He noted that despite the reduction in imports this year, it was possible to maintain a balance due to an increase in domestic production.
«Supplies of food wheat and flour have been reduced this year. According to the results of 11 months of last year, we imported 83,000 tons of wheat. The figure is lower this year — 10,000 tons. So far, we are importing high-quality, but cheaper grain from Russia, but not in the volumes that were last year, because this year we have our own volume of food wheat,» Askarbek Dzhanybekov said.
A similar situation, according to him, has developed with vegetable oil. Last year, the provision was 12 percent, and this year it increased to 20. The rest is purchased from Kazakhstan, Russia and other countries.
