The chess team of Kyrgyzstan left for India to participate in the FIDE World Chess Olympiad. The Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
«We are justifiably proud of the bright victories of our athletes in various international competitions and always strive to support them in participating in major sporting events abroad. I am sure that by joint efforts we will continue to develop this ancient sporting art, the birthplace of which is India, and actively contribute to the growth of the popularity of chess in our country,» the head of the diplomatic mission, Asein Isaev, said.
The national team of the Kyrgyz Republic includes men’s and women’s teams, consisting of 10 participants of different age categories.
The Chess Olympiad is the largest sporting event after the Olympic Games, held every two years. More than 2,000 chess players from 188 countries of the world participate in it this year.
