Status of the main TV channel of the country has been changed. The law on the National TV and Radio Broadcasting Corporation of the Kyrgyz Republic was signed. Toktom portal reports.
The law regulates management of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Corporation (NTRK) and is aimed at creating conditions for development of the information space.
«The subject of regulation of the law is the organizational and legal basis for the activities of the corporation, its legal status, as well as the main directions for implementation of state policy in the field of preparing objective information (national media content) and other television and radio products on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic and beyond,» the statement says.
It has been established that the corporation is the legal successor of the Public Broadcasting Corporation (OTRK).
The law comes into force from the day of its official publication.
The law was adopted in April by deputies of the Parliament. It provides not only for renaming of the Public Television and Radio Corporation into a national one (NTRK), but also for the abolition of the Supervisory Board. The general director of the TV channel will be appointed by the president. After changing the status of the TV channel, additional 13 million soms will be required from the budget.
Even at the development stage, media experts asked the authors to withdraw the document, pointing out that democratic principles are completely nullified in it.
But the Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Azamat Zhamankulov has a different opinion. According to him, the public status of the television and radio corporation has not justified itself.
