Kyrgyzstanis are urged not to worry about the confidentiality of their personal information during the census. Zainidin Zhumaliev, deputy chairman of the National Statistical Committee, told at a press conference.
He noted that the population and housing census will begin tomorrow.
The census forms consist of five sections with more than 40 basic questions, Zainidin Zhumaliev said. Answers to them will provide detailed information on the country’s demographic and social characteristics.
«Confidentiality must be observed during the census. It is stipulated in the law. Census takers do not ask for a citizen’s surname. The number of population, social status, in what conditions people live in, their education, who works, who doesn’t work are important to us... All the information collected will be kept confidential. This year the census will be conducted electronically. A month after processing all data, the information will be automatically deleted from servers. Therefore, 100 percent confidentiality is guaranteed,» he said.

It is planned to conduct the population census from March 25 to April 3 and in remote areas from April 23 to May 2. About 28,000 temporary staff have been hired (coordinators, instructors-controllers and census takers) and training seminars have been held. All the financial issues relating to the organization of the event have been resolved. At least 321.9 million soms have been allocated from the republic’s budget for this purpose.
The census will be for the first time conducted electronically with the help of a mobile application, using census takers’ personal mobile phones or tablets.
