One athlete and officials: Who from Kyrgyzstan will go to Olympics in Beijing

Composition of the delegation of Kyrgyzstan to the Olympic Games in Beijing was announced. The National Olympic Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic (NOC) reported.

Skier Maxim Gordeev, born in 1995 in Karakol, will represent Kyrgyzstan at the Games 2022.

He has been skiing since 2010. He is a champion and master of sports of Kyrgyzstan, participant of three world championships, two winter Universiades and many competitions under the aegis of the International Ski Federation (FIS).

His best result on the international scene was fourth place at the 2018 FIS competition.

His main and personal coach is Igor Borisov.

Over the past four years, Maxim Gordeev has participated in competitions in Iran, Armenia, Sweden, Russia, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and the UAE. The most important event was the qualifying competition in the UAE in November 2021. As a result of four starts, the sportsman won the right to participate in the upcoming Olympics in the «slalom» discipline.

Apart from Maksim Gordeev and Igor Borisov, the Kyrgyz sports delegation will include Cholpon Zhumagaziyeva, chief of mission and employee of the National Olympic Committee. At the invitation of the International Olympic Committee, NOC President Sadyr Mamytov and NOC Secretary General Kylychbek Sarbagishev will attend the Games.

President Sadyr Japarov will also go to the Olympics.

The Beijing Winter Olympics will be held from February 4 to February 20. Maxim Gordeyev will compete on February 16.
