In order to stabilize the situation in border area, the head of Batken district of Kyrgyzstan Uchkunbek Zhorobayev met with the head of Isfara district of Tajikistan Bahovaddin Bahodurzado. Administration of Batken region reported.
An agreement was reached during negotiations on a joint investigation by the police officers of the two countries of incidents that earlier occurred at the border, and measures to prevent provocative actions were considered.
«We agreed to jointly investigate those cases when vehicles moving along the roads are subjected to throwing of stones. In addition, we agreed to take measures in advance to prevent any aggravation of the situation on the New Year’s Eve. Police officers of both districts will work together for this,» Uchkunbek Zhorobaev said.
On December 25, Tajik border guards installed a mortar on the territory of their post at a disputed section of the border opposite Sai area, Batken region. In addition, several Tajiks threw stones at vehicles passing along Osh — Batken — Isfana road.
