Farmers and peasant farms exempted from land tax in Kyrgyzstan

Farmers and peasant farms are exempted from land tax. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov. The head of state announced it on his page in social media.

«Today I issued a decree exempting farmers and peasant farms from land tax. This work is being carried out in order to support the agricultural sector, even if it is a small business. From January 1, 2022, you will not have to pay taxes on irrigated land, arable land, pastures and hayfields. The tax you pay will be paid from the republican budget,» Sadyr Japarov wrote.

It is noted that the state will begin to issue loans to farmers at 6 percent per annum next year.

«We will not, of course, be able to support all the farmers for a year. But in the long term, God willing, according to our calculations, we will be able to support all of you in the next 3-4 years. Our main goal is to create favorable conditions for you and provide the country with food,» he said.

The President reminded that most of the land in the country was not cultivated in the past.

«Even one meter of irrigated land should not be left unused. Local authorities, rural administrations, heads of districts and representatives of the president in the regions will be personally responsible for this. So pay close attention now. Start close cooperation with Aiyl Bank and RSK Bank,» Sadyr Japarov addressed local officials.

The President stressed that the state would make every effort and would provide all kinds of support in order the farmers could export their products.

The decree was developed to encourage agricultural producers. According to the presidential press service, the Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to develop and submit for consideration a draft law providing for exemption from land tax for the use of agricultural land for the period from 2022 to 2024, inclusively, with compensation for losses of the local budget in connection with the exemption from the land tax.
