The attack on Ata Meken party leader Omurbek Tekebaev looks like a political provocation, stated Marat Imankulov, secretary of the Security Council, on the air of Azattyk radio.
According to him, the case is under the president’s supervision.
«I learned about the attack on Omurbek Tekebaev from journalists. I discussed the incident with the Minister of the Interior, then I reported to the head of state. Sadyr Japarov replied that the case was under his supervision. The incident is like a political provocation. No one needs that. I am also a representative of the authorities, but I wouldn’t even think of insulting him. Perhaps, someone wants to aggravate the situation, to give an impetus to the discontented. But the attacker will be found, it will take a little time,» Marat Imankulov said.
Ata Meken party leader Omurbek Tekebaev was attacked by several young men, who beat him up and took his cell phone away. The attack took place about 100 meters from the Government House.
The politician associates the incident with his political activity and attempts to challenge the election results.
