Following the results of a summit in Istanbul (Turkey), the leaders of the member countries of the Turkic Council decided to rename the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States into the Organization of Turkic States. Press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.
The decision was made to enhance the status of the organization, and also taking into account the progress made by the Turkic Council since its creation. Thus, the heads of state of the Turkic Council emphasize their commitment to enhancing the role of the organization in ensuring coordinated actions in a multilateral format between its member states and further promotion of their interests on the regional and international scene.
It is expected that the new name will have a positive impact on strengthening the organization’s position on the world scene and will stimulate expansion of its area of activities.
