It is planned to start implementation of the electronic ticketing project within three months. The Vice Mayor of Bishkek, Maxim Sitnikov, stated this at a meeting of representatives of the Bishkek City Administration with the Association of Carriers.
According to him, a tender for the project will be announced by the city administration in the near future.
«The documents have been prepared, they are considered by the tender commission. We were going to announce a tender before the new year, but we had to finalize certain points. We plan to start the project within three months,» Maxim Sitnikov added.
At the first stage, it is planned to install more than 300 validators in buses and trolleybuses and to issue from 300,000 to 600,000 smart cards for downloading public transport trips. The project is planned on the basis of public-private partnership.
The head of the Transport Department of the Bishkek City Administration, Kubanychbek Dzhusupov, had previously stated that the tender for the e-ticketing project would be held in November 2018. Then he promised to hold it in December.
The introduction of electronic ticketing system in the capital has been discussed since 2013.
