London residents started raising money for the lawyers of ex-deputy Omurbek Tekebayev Taalaigul Toktakunova and Kanatbek Aziz to pay the claim. Taalaigul Toktakunova informed 24.kg news agency.
According to her, their legal case was published on the website www.crowdfunder.co.uk with statement that those who wish can transfer money to help lawyers with paying out unaffordable for them sum on the suit of the Prosecutor General’s Office on protection of honor and dignity of the former president Almazbek Atambayev. The day before, the lawyers received 20 pounds sterling.
Bishkek City Court on October 4, 2017 satisfied the claim of the main supervisory authority, upholding the verdict of the district court.
The plaintiff asked to declare the information voiced at the press conference of Omurbek Tekebayev’s lawyers Taalaigul Toktakunova and Kanatbek Aziz, who spoke on behalf of the politician, untrue. The court granted the claim and recovered from the defendants 10 million soms. The property of Taailigul Toktakunova was seized.
On November 30, the Supreme Court upheld the decisions of lower courts.
