Kyrgyz skier Evgeny Timofeev takes 63rd place at the Olympics

Skier Evgeny Timofeev took 63rd place at the Winter Olympics, which continues in Pyeongchang (South Korea). Official website of the Olympic Games reported.

Winners in the discipline «giant slalom» were determined within the Olympics the day before. At least 109 participants from 69 countries made their first attempt. 85 of them, including Evgeny Timofeev, who took the 72nd place, successfully finished the race.

After lunch, there was a second, decisive attempt. 75 athletes finished. The Austrian Marcel Hirscher, whose result for the sum of two attempts was 2 minutes 18.04 seconds, became the campion. In second place is the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen (2 minutes 19.31 seconds), the third is Frenchman Alexis Pintauro (2 minutes 19.35 seconds). The result of Evgeny Timofeev is 2 minutes 41.03 seconds.

Recall, at the Olympics 2014 in the same discipline, Evgeny Timofeev became the 61st.

«I dream about gold, but I soberly assess my current level. The competition at the Olympic Games is very serious. To win, you need to live in Europe and train in a kind of high league with people who have already passed through it,» Evgeny Timofeev told in November 2017 to 24.kg news agency.

«All athletes are aimed at winning the Olympics. But we must really look at our opportunities. Financing is weak. It is very hard to win the medals. It will be a great success for us to enter the 40 best athletes at the Olympics,» his coach Igor Borisov told journalists in January.
