Powerlifter from Kyrgyzstan becomes world champion

Powerlifter from Kyrgyzstan became the world champion among the masters. This was announced by the president of the federation of this sport of the Kyrgyz Republic Bakyt Kerimbekov.

According to him, the championship completed in Sundsvall (Sweden). The KR was represented by two athletes.

Bakyt Kerimbekov performed in the weight category up to 105 kg. In the overall standings for the sum of three exercises (bench press laying, squatting, deadlift), he didn’t get into the top three of the prizewinners. But, having mastered a bar weighing 205 kg, he won a small silver medal in bench press.

Alymbek Rakhimov performed in weight until 74 kg. In bench press he mastered 150 kg, in squatting — 240 kg, in deadlift — 250 kg. The overall result of 640 kg was enough to win the world title. He beat the previous powerlifter by 52.5 kg. Also,  «gold» (for a deadlift) and two «silver» (for bench press and squatting) are in his assets.
