Vladimir Putin tells about promising future of Kyrgyzstan

«Kyrgyzstan has an interesting and promising future, if we mean the talent and diligence of the Kyrgyz people and the capabilities of the Kyrgyz land, mineral resources,» Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with journalist Syyagul Karaman.

According to him, Gazprom has big plans for the development of energy industry. «In the next few years, if we implement what we had agreed with the president of Kyrgyzstan, we will be able to increase gas supply up to 60 percent. Gazprom intends to invest up to 100 billion rubles,» the Russian President said.

Answering the question whether Almazbek Atambayev succeeded in gaining confidence of outside political players, made them reckon with Kyrgyzstan and hold a dialogue on an equal footing, Vladimir Putin replied: «I think so. Maybe not everyone likes what he does. But everyone treats him like a very serious person. It is due to the fact that he stands to his words. I think that Kyrgyzstan also benefits from this, they treat the country as a serious partner.»

Vladimir Putin noted that there are «very good» relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia. Russia is one of the key trade and economic partners of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation accounts for 23 percent of its turnover.

The Russian president also recalled the Great Patriotic War, which united the peoples by blood. «We all fought for our common Fatherland. The former peoples of the USSR gave much, laid on the altar of the victory. The current president of Kyrgyzstan writes songs about this. In my opinion, he makes it very talented, interesting, beautiful. We even show them on the central channels of Russian television,» Vladimir Putin said.

«But this is not all that unites us. There are a lot of family ties, personal, friendly, more economic ones. Import of agricultural products, fruits and vegetables from Kyrgyzstan grew 2.3 times,» he added.
