Following talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov expressed interest in linking the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway under construction with Georgia’s port infrastructure. According to the head of state, this area is considered a priority for bilateral cooperation.
Speaking to journalists on June 12 in Bishkek, Sadyr Japarov called Irakli Kobakhidze’s first official visit to Kyrgyzstan a historic event. He noted that in 34 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, this is the first official visit by a Georgian Prime Minister to Kyrgyzstan.
According to the presidential press service, particular attention was paid to transport and logistics.
Sadyr Japarov stated that Kyrgyzstan is interested in developing cooperation with Georgia within the framework of international transport corridors and invited the Georgian side to more actively participate in projects in the fields of transport, agriculture, construction, the digital economy, and tourism.
The head of state also noted the positive dynamics of mutual trade and confirmed the parties’ readiness to take additional measures to increase trade turnover, expand contacts between the business communities, and implement joint investment projects.
Taking the opportunity, he invited Georgian athletes to participate in the 6th World Nomad Games, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan.
Following the talks, the parties signed a package of bilateral documents aimed at further strengthening Kyrgyzstan-Georgia cooperation in various areas. According to the President, the agreements reached will facilitate the implementation of mutually beneficial projects and the further development of relations between the two countries.
