State Duma extends period for change of driving licenses to migrants

Deputies of the Russian State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill, which extended for another year — until June 1, 2018 — the deadline for the replacement of foreign driving licenses by the Russian one to work as driver in Russia, Russian media reported.

Recall, amendments to the law On Road Safety, which prohibit holders of foreign or international driving licenses to work as drivers in Russia, were to enter into force on June 1, 2017.

It is emphasized that the requirement to have Russian driving licenses doesn’t apply to owners of foreign or international licenses who use a vehicle for personal purposes.
