PM promises tight control over construction of Bishkek-Kara-Balta road

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov promised to keep strict control over the rehabilitation of Bishkek-Kara-Balta highway. He stated this today at a meeting of the coalition of the parliamentary majority.

Deputy Bakirdin Subanbekov raised the issue that the length of the road, where the repair work will be carried out, was reduced by seven kilometers. The Minister of Transport and Roads Zhamshitbek Kalilov replied that this was caused by the increase in the cost of the project.

At the same time, thanks to cost savings, repair of the road in the direction of Bishkek is possible after the contractor approves the project. This issue will be considered at the end of the rehabilitation of the main site by 80 percent.

«There is nothing more precious than human life. The latest facts of road accidents in Kemin district indicate that drivers get in accidents because of speeding and driving into the oncoming lane. I’m wondering whether there will be limiters on the center line during the construction of Bishkek-Kara-Balta road," Bakirdin Subanbekov said.

Zhamshitbek Kalilov replied that they would install concrete slabs. The question of road rehabilitation was also commented by the Prime Minister Sooronbay Jeenbekov.

«The issue of rehabilitation of Bishkek-Kara-Balta road has already reached the political level. But I want to say that there will be a strict control over the implementation of the project, including the Ministry of Transport. We will complete the project in time," the head of the Cabinet said.
