St. Petersburg terrorist attack. Examination confirms identity of suspect

DNA test and parents confirmed the identity of the suspected of the organization of explosions in the metro of St. Petersburg Akbarzhon Jalilov. Lenta.ru reported with reference to the Investigative Committee of Russia.

«The investigation carefully studies Jalilov’s contacts and social circle to find information that is relevant to the investigation," Svetlana Petrenko, the spokesperson for the Investigative Committee the Russian Federation said.

It is noted that an improvised explosive device, found and defused at the metro station Ploshchad Vosstaniya, was sent to technical expertise. Experts will determine its type, power and the type of striking elements. The scotch tape, foil and other items seized during the search at Jalilov’s place of residence were sent to examination. According to preliminary data, they are similar to fragments of this device.

«Currently, the investigation team is actively working with the operational units of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia to find out all the circumstances of the crime, as well as the reasons and conditions that contributed to its committing," the report said.

The Russian media note that the mother and father of Jalilov arrived in St. Petersburg for identification. Information on their departure by the last flight at 1.15 am local time was confirmed to 24.kg news agency at Osh airport.

Earlier it was reported that the investigators had found the place of residence of 22-year-old Akbarzhon Jalilov in St. Petersburg and conducted a search there. On April 4, the Investigative Committee of Russia named him the man who made an explosion in the metro of St. Petersburg.

The explosion in the St. Petersburg metro occurred on April 3. Victims of the terrorist attack were 14 people, more than 50 were injured.
