President proposes citizens earn 17 % annual return on government securities

President Sadyr Japarov has urged citizens of Kyrgyzstan to invest in government securities offering an annual yield of 17 percent. The head of state announced the initiative on Facebook.

According to President Sadyr Japarov, government securities can now be purchased online through the mobile application MegaPay, without visiting banks or completing paper-based procedures.

«I am introducing an important initiative today that will allow every citizen to improve their financial situation and at the same time contribute to the development of Kyrgyzstan,» he said.

He explained that the securities have a two-year maturity period. The 17 percent annual income is paid every three months, while the principal amount is fully returned at the end of the term.

As an example, he noted that an investment of 100,000 soms would generate 34,000 soms in interest income over two years, with a total payout of 134,000 soms.

The president emphasized that the yield on government securities currently exceeds interest rates offered by most bank deposits. He also stated that these instruments are backed by a state guarantee and are considered among the most reliable investment options.

It was also reported that securities holders will soon be able to resell them on the secondary market.

Sadyr Japarov called on citizens to make active use of the new financial instrument, saying it would help both personal income growth and national economic development.
