Construction of dormitory at Manas university suspended over violations

Construction of a dormitory for 1,100 students on the campus of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University in Bishkek has been suspended following the discovery of violations of urban planning legislation.

According to the State Department for Architecture and Construction Supervision under the Ministry of Construction, the violations were identified during an inspection conducted on June 11 at a site located in Dzhal microdistrict, building No. 30.

Inspectors found that excavation work had been carried out without the required permits and without registering the project in the state construction registry.

The inspection confirmed that the project involved the construction of a new university dormitory.

As a result of the inspection, the contracting company, Bitrade Impex, was issued an official violation report and fined 200,000 soms. Construction and installation work has also been suspended until all identified violations are fully eliminated.

The ministry reminded construction companies that carrying out building work without the necessary permits entails liability under Kyrgyzstan’s legislation and urged developers to strictly comply with urban planning and construction regulations.
