The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek has ordered the pretrial detention of Shairbek Tashiev, the court’s press service reported.
Under the court’s decision, he has been placed in pre-trial detention until May 16.
Lawyer Zhyrgal Babaev stated that his client does not admit his guilt. According to him, the charges were not properly substantiated, and the defense intends to appeal the court’s decision.
He also noted that Tashiev has provided testimony and answered all investigators’ questions. There have been no complaints about detention conditions so far.
Shairbek Tashiev, the younger brother of a former head of the State Committee for National Security, is a defendant in a case involving multi-billion soms embezzlement at Kyrgyzneftegaz OJSC.
The investigation is ongoing.
