Rita Karasartova was detained for 48 hours. Human rights activist Gulshaiyr Abdirasulova told 24.kg news agency.
According to her, a search was conducted in Rita Karasartova’s house on April 14 at 9 p.m. «She herself was not at home, only her children were there. It was later revealed that the employees of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Chui region conducted the search as part of a criminal case initiated in December 2024 against a number of Kyrgyzstanis. Allegedly, she had close ties with them. However, during the interrogation itself, according to her lawyer, she was told that Rita was a witness, not an accused, and they only asked her about Tilekmat Kurenov’s letter, which she posted on Facebook. But she acted like a human rights activist, who cannot ignore citizens’ appeals,» Gulshaiyr Abdirasulova told.
She added that Karasartova was placed in the temporary detention facility of the Department of Internal Affairs of Issyk-Ata district for 48 hours.
Another human rights activist, Erkina Mukash, posted on Facebook that Rita Karasartova was detained under Article 278 «Calls for mass riots» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
