Kyrgyzstan starts to produce tires

The branch of tire recovery and recycling plant of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC took part in the capital’s exhibition of industrial enterprises, where it presented products made from recycled tires.

The plant’s director, Alexander Smetanin, reported that the plant demonstrated four fractions of crumb rubber, which is used to fill football pitches, and the first recovered tires ready for use.

«It is used to fill football pitches, and the first examples of recovered tires, which will later be put into operation, were also exhibited. The tires were produced in Kyrgyzstan, in Tokmak city. The tread raw material was brought from Italy and Turkey. Just yesterday we processed more than a million kilograms,» he said.

Smetanin stressed that all recycled tires remain at Kumtor for reuse.

The plant was built as part of «Turning Waste into Money» project. It is aimed at creating a plant, using German technology that recovers tires of any size, reducing replacement costs and increasing the efficiency of Kumtor Gold Company. The project will be able to provide jobs for 200 people, processing more than 2 tons of old tires per hour. At the moment, 70 people work at the plant. $19.2 million has been allocated for its implementation.
