Askar Akayev commented on the meeting of former presidents of Kyrgyzstan in Dubai. His letter was published by Kaktus.media.
It states that the President Sadyr Japarov and his team have achieved notable successes in all spheres of state and public life, in the country’s domestic and foreign policy over the two years that have passed since his election.
The former president said that it was obvious to him, as a direct participant in this meeting, that the rendezvous was organized based on the highest interests of the people and the strengthening of the Kyrgyz statehood.
«Personally, I supported this initiative and called on my colleagues to agreement and support for the sake of a prosperous future of Kyrgyzstan and strengthening stability in society. Taking this opportunity, I also call on the people of the Kyrgyz Republic to unite and rally around the popularly elected President Sadyr Japarov, so that, using the current favorable situation, make an economic take-off to build a prosperous Kyrgyzstan!» Askar Akayev said.
Recall, Sadyr Japarov announced a meeting of all the former heads of Kyrgyzstan on February 18. Former MP Ryskeldi Mombekov wrote that the meeting was held in the United Arab Emirates.
Later, Almazbek Atambayev publicly commented on the meeting.
«Yes, meeting of the ex-presidents has taken place. Yes, I attended it. However, I was not informed that any of the ex-presidents would be there. I was told that I was invited to a meeting with the head of state Sadyr Japarov and Kamchybek Tashiev (Chairman of the State Committee for National Security. — Note of 24.kg news agency), so that we could talk on an equal footing, like free people, and forget old grievances. I remember kindness and therefore could not refuse, I even canceled a pre-planned meeting with the Spanish Ambassador. As you know, the Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez invited me to undergo treatment, many thanks to him for that,» he wrote.
