Bishkek hosts “Unity of People in Diversity” Forum

The national forum «Unity of People in Diversity» is held in Bishkek. The project is funded by the European Union.

A photo exhibition, exhibition of decorative and applied arts, national cuisine of 14 diasporas, which are members of the Assembly of the Peoples of Kyrgyzstan, as well as a concert program were presented at the event.

The guests of the forum got acquainted with the cultural diversity of Kyrgyzstan, the results of promoting the concept of civic identity «Kyrgyz Zharany». They also received information about the availability of public services in the country.

It is noted that the project «Unity of the People in Diversity», which has been implemented since November 2019, holds the forum to strengthen communities of citizens with different cultural, ethnic and religious traditions.

According to the project representatives, it has increased the potential of 440 people from among civil servants, NGO employees, representatives of diasporas and women from ethnic communities. They completed trainings on standards and monitoring of the provision of public services, coverage of interethnic relations and tolerance, and social project management.

Deputy Chairwoman of the Assembly of the Peoples of Kyrgyzstan Zukhra Shidakova notes that the people of the country more than ever need unity and friendship now.

«We, Kyrgyzstanis, must be friendly, strong, and at the same time correct. We have to respect and understand each other. Then everything in the country will be fine,» she said.
