Osh Сity Сourt sentenced Bakhtier Akbarov, who escaped from a military unit of the southern capital in 1996, to 3 year suspended prison sentence. Verdict of the court says.
The Military Prosecutor’s Office was reportedly able to detain the defendant and bring charges under the article desertion only after 22 years — in 2018.
During the trial, the defendant fully admitted his guilt and asked the court to commute his sentence. The man explained that he had escaped from the military unit because of starvation.
«I was called up for military service by the military enlistment office of Kant town. A year later, I escaped because I was undernourished. Realizing what I had done, I came back to the unit, but they didn’t let me in,» said Bakhtier Akbarov.
