Every 10th traffic accident in Bishkek involves passenger transport. Coordinator of the project on road safety Dinara Dooronova told today at a round table discussion.
About 2,269 traffic accidents occurred in Bishkek in 2017 that is 41 percent more than in 2016. At least 70 people were killed. However, mortality rate declined by 55 percent. The most dangerous is Leninsky district: 40 percent of deaths. Each tenth traffic accident occurs with the participation of passenger transport.
Road Safety NGO polled 4,600 citizens. The survey showed that only three out of a hundred residents consider safety on the roads of the capital as high. Only 35 percent of pedestrians are satisfied with the level of safety.
«At least 82 percent of Bishkek residents believe that the main problem is the low culture of behavior of the participants in the movement. There is a war between a driver and a pedestrian,» explained Dinara Dooronova.
