The Football Federation of Myanmar fired the head coach Gerd Zeise three days after the national team was beaten by Kyrgyzstan and failed to qualify for 2019 Asian Cup to be held in the UAE. Myanmar Times reported.
Gerd Zeise reportedly still has nine months of his contract left, but his dismissal was imminent after Kyrgyzstan trounced Myanmar 5-1 in Incheon, South Korea, last Thursday.
«I don’t have much to say. We will find his replacement as soon as possible. The new coach could be foreign or local. I can’t say exactly for now. Our immediate focus now is the match against Macao.» MFF CEO Naing Zaw told.
Myanmar plays Macao tomorrow in its last Asia Cup qualifier.
Gerd Zeise became the head coach of the national football team of Myanmar in October 2015. Under him, the team has had only seven wins compared to 23 defeats.
