Almambet Shykmamatov was elected the new leader of Ata Meken parliamentary faction. 24.kg news agency was informed about it by its secretariat.
As noted, today at the meeting of Ata Meken faction the appeal of its former leader Omurbek Tekebayev about resigning «for known to all circumstances» was read out.
Yesterday, the Bishkek City Court, having considered the appeal, upheld the verdict of the first instance against Omurbek Tekebayev and Duishenkul Chotonov. They were sentenced to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property on charges of corruption. In the coming days, the CEC may consider the question of depriving the former leader of the faction of his deputy seat.
«The faction has upheld the petition. Almambet Shykmamatov became head of the faction by unanimous decision,» the secretariat added.
