Iran ready to work in construction of hydropower plants in Kyrgyzstan

The Foreign Affairs Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif complained at a joint press conference with the Foreign Affairs Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev that his country has little representation in the market of Kyrgyzstan due to sanctions.

«We are ready to work in the construction of small and large hydropower plants, as well as in pharmaceuticals industry," he said.

In his turn, the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Erlan Abdyldaev noted that the Kyrgyz side was doing everything possible to enhance cooperation. In particular, the procedure for obtaining business visas by Iranian businessmen was simplified.

«I do not think that we do not need to wait for the next 25 years to establish cooperation. Iran is also interested in investing in the mining and hydropower industry," Erlan Abdyldaev said.

According to the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, air communication with Iran will also be established.

Erlan Abdyldaev noted that the membership of Kyrgyzstan in EEI opens up new opportunities for Iran to enter the large Eurasian market.

In 2016, the trade turnover with Iran amounted to $ 14 million, and in 2015 — $ 7 million.
