Trial of the nephew of the mayor of the capital Maksat Kunakunov began in Bishkek. His relatives informed 24.kg news agency. According to them, the lawyers of the defendants and the state prosecution appealed to the Bishkek City Court.
The former parliament deputy was accused of aiding terrorists. He was charged with Articles of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic «Aiding terrorists», «Illegal storage of weapons», «Attempted coup d'état» and «Robbery». The state prosecution asked for him 30 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Maksat Kunakunov was acquitted of aiding terrorists and attempted coup d'état, but was found guilty under articles on illegal possession of weapons and robbery.
The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek sentenced him to 10 years in prison.
