Prosecutor General's Office explains lawsuit to defend honor of President

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan gave explanations in connection with its initiative to file lawsuits against journalists, defending the honor and dignity of the President Almazbek Atambayev.

As the Prosecutor General’s Office explained, Azattyk is co-defendant. The defendants are the lawyers of the leader of Ata Meken Omurbek Tekebayev — Kanatbek Aziz and Taalaigul Toktakunova. Azattyk was sued for 10 million soms.

The supervisory authority asks to recover 3 million soms from Zanoza.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said that these agencies published documents that the contraband cargo on board of the crashed Turkish aircraft allegedly belonged to the family of the president of the country, referring to the lawyers of Ata Meken, who voiced the information at a press conference.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic asks to declare the information untrue, along with the published documents.

Omurbek Tekebayev was taken into custody until April 25. He is accused of corruption and fraud.
