Historic orphanage to be restored in Tokmok city

A historic orphanage building in Tokmok, where many representatives of the first generation of Kyrgyz intellectuals were raised, will be restored on the instruction of President Sadyr Japarov.

According to State Secretary Arslan Koichiev, a presidential school Akylman will also be built near the site.

«The Tokmok orphanage was established after the Urkun events and became a shelter for children who had lost their parents. It was here that future prominent figures of Kyrgyzstan were raised, who made a significant contribution to the country’s development,» Koichiev wrote.

He noted that among the orphanage’s alumni were Bolot Mambetov, Bolot Yunusaliev, Satkyn Sasykbaev, Abdrasul Toktomushev, and Alykul Osmonov, and other prominent personalities.
